One year after the escalation of the conflict, in the midst of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis
One year has passed since Israeli forces launched their attack on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. So far, at least 41,965 people have lost their lives, 97,590 have been injured, and more than 10,000 are missing in Gaza (UNOCHA, October 8, 2024). In the Gaza Strip, also known as the “prison without a ceiling,” approximately 90% of the 2.2 million residents have been forced to flee their homes, with no safe shelter or means of escape.
Gaza citizens are struggling to secure food, water, and medical supplies, and are tormented by fear in their daily lives. In addition, the catastrophic health care system and sanitary conditions have exacerbated infectious diseases and other health risks. Meanwhile, on the Israeli side, the hostage crisis continues, and civilians on both sides are suffering the effects of the armed conflict.
Despite this difficult situation, many organizations have been promoting humanitarian relief activities with the mission of “protecting people's lives and dignity. However, if the crisis continues, access to aid delivery points will become even more difficult, and there is concern that the lives and health of those in need will be seriously jeopardized.
World in Peace also plans to provide assistance in cooperation with Sharek Youth Forum, a local organization that has extensive experience in the Gaza Strip in Palestine and has worked with international organizations such as the United Nations. The Sharek Youth Forum was selected as a trusted partner with extensive experience in the Palestinian Gaza Strip and working with international organizations such as the UN. The first phase of support will provide psychological support through psychological care and recreational activities for children in the Gaza Strip. Once this support is completed, we plan to provide ongoing support as funds allow.
From the staff in charge of the project
Our Palestine support project, which began in May of this year, has now been in operation for six months. During this period, we have planned and implemented various support activities and have been able to deliver your warm support to the region. We would like to ask for your help in continuing this effort to support the lives of the Palestinian people.
